Welcome to the first edition of my new column New Music Weekly. Every Friday I'll be spotlighting a new album that was released that week. Aaron and I have this ongoing conversation about how much we hate reviews, so this jawn will be strictly info only. Just simply some good music that I think you all should be aware of. Also, I know nobody on here is as big a vinyl junkie/addict as I am, so I'll keep this limited to full length albums released on Compact Disc. Hope you enjoy. -Ed Blammo VOLUME ONE. Koushik: Be With Stones Throw Records This album is one of the most original things I've heard in a while. Dude isn't the typical Stones Throw fare (i.e. NOT Madlib). His sound has been described as DJ Premier producing The Byrds, which doesn't make much sense at all. Suffice to say, Koushik combines some of the best elements of hip-hop, psyche, and indie rock into a really hip otherworldly beat stew. Check his website for all kinds of info including tour dates, mp3s and a stream of one of his off the toilet brush DJ sets Also, if you like what you hear there, download his Madvillain Remix EP on iTunes. BE WITH is on sale now at Turntable Lab

NEW MUSIC WEEKLY VOL. II The Free Design: Now Sound Redesigned Light In The Attic Records The Free Design are a 70's psychedelic pop group. Mr. Supreme of Light In The Attic Records has been re-issuing their entire back catalog, and Now Sound Redesigned is an off-shoot of that re-issue campaign. Personally, I don't have the time or money to buy up all the Free Design albums, even though they are unquestionalbly dope. Redesigned takes care of all that bullshit for me. The album is a collection of some high profile remixes from the likes of Peanut Butter Wolf, Madlib, Danger Mouse, Koushik, Stereolab, and Kid Koala as well as a bunch of unknowns that bring equal heat. Adam from Cue records told me the CD is "bangin'," and I'd have to agree with him. mp3's and more info herebuy it here

NEW MUSIC WEEKLY VOL. III Cool Calm Pete: Lost Embedded Music A little late on this one, sorry, but it's a good one. From the depths of independent rap hell comes the NY sensation, Cool Calm Pete. Pete hails from the Babbletron Crew, but Lost surpasses anything that Babbletron could ever muster together. His flow and production style match the Cool Calm pseudonym perfectly. Check it out, I can't remember the last indie hip-hop joint that got me interested like this does. The Embedded website has some goodies so you all can get hip to the sound. mp3 for the tite track, Lost. As always, buy it at Turntable Lab
